Golf Manufacturer
Everyone, everything has its own strengths and weaknesses. Just like any man who’d have one dominant strong arm among his pair of hands. The same goes with everything else.
In golf, such principle is true; one golf manufacturer’s golf ball could be decidedly different from another. Not good or not bad, but just different. That’s why, to be able to appreciate golf, anyone should learn every golf manufacturers biggest advantage and make this information work for them. Confused? Well then, read on.
Just Like Callaway Golf. Speaking about golf clubs, there’s a few other brand names that get as well known enough. Callaway is definitely the best known brands of golf clubs.
Callaway become a household name for golf when it released the Big Bertha in 1991. It was the first of its kind. At this time golf club drivers are usually long but small on the club head, more like any fairway woods club. Usually these golf club drivers are made of persimmon, which is also easy to break. Though metal drivers did exist at this time, it was unpopular due to the resulting heavy weight.
When the Callaway Big Bertha did come out, it revealed unusual properties: it has a big steel club head at 190cc and it was a steel club, though made far lighter due to hollowed out steel golf shaft. Because of this, novice golf players found out that drives are far more forgiving. And even off shots are hit straight and true, thanks to the considerable club face.
Since then, Callaway had never stopped producing high quality clubs, still named as Big Bertha. The trademark will include still the hollowed steel shaft though the materials got even more exotic and far lighter –graphite. Clubs heads have extended way to 460cc, far more massive than the original Big Bertha. And golf games got even more competitive.
If Callaway is to golf clubs, then Titleist Golf is to golf balls.
In the PGA Tour, or just in any respectable golf course, when you speak about golf balls, you always speak about Titleist Golf. The Titleist golf balls have become so far popular that it is even portrayed at many occasions in the media. In the recent movie “Batman Begins”, there’s a product placement (though it was never revealed how much the movie got for that) of Titleist Golf wherein Bruce Wayne showed an executive assistant how to drive a Titleist golf ball. In the 14th Seinfeld episode entitled “The Marine Biologist”, Kramer was seen driving Titleist golf balls into the ocean, which one of the golf balls was later retrieved, stuck on a whale’s blowhole. Then there’s “Caddyshack”, where Chevy Chase could be seen using Titleist golf balls. In the Tin Cup, Roy “Tin Cup” McAvoy’s top choice for golf balls became evident as he asked his caddy to steal for him some new mint condition Titleist golf balls. Ray Romano, on his show “Everybody Loves Raymond”, could be seen using Titleist golf balls.
Why is Titleist golf balls referenced so much? Simple: they are the best there is. Do you want grip and feel on the green? Titleist’s urethane cover and soft core compound allows the best feel on the green, you’d be able to do those fancy bends just using your irons. Want those longer carries over a hazard, or the longest carries on the drive? Titleist’s explosive core allows anyone to achieve that needed ‘extra’ distance more than any ball in the market.
