Italy Golf Vacations

When you’re just any casual traveler, itineraries that could interest you would be like the Basilica di San Pietro in Vaticano or the Amalfi Coast. Destinations such as these are Italy’s most favorite tourist hotspots. But if you’re a golfer vacationer, then aside from the Basilica di San Pietro in Vaticano or the Amalfi Coast, you’d also want some Le Querce Golf Club or Marco Simone Golf Club included in the itinerary.

So how would you plan your Italy Golf Vacation?

The best part of any golf holiday in Italy is that it offers the best of the world. While golfing, you’ll notice that the queer Italian climate allowed so much green in the country, that Italy is often called a Land of a Green Heart in reference to Italy’s Umbria as the il cuor verde d'Italia’. And because Italy is also the birthplace of renaissance art, venues like the Basilica di San Pietro or localities like the Positano in Amalfi Coast offer as much eye candy to travelers. Simple pleasures, like walking along the Amalfi Coast or walking to the next hole on the Golf Club Toscana Il Pelagone in the heart of Tuscanny, can be surprisingly stirring.

Here are some plans for golf vacations in Italy.

Umbria Italy Golf Vacations

The Umbria is one rare part of Italy. Deep and lush vegetation, rolling landscapes, a hint of fauna, the Umbria at first glance seem out of place on a world so modern. That’s why my first recommendation goes to this place. For golf courses, there is the Golf Club Lamborghini at Soderi1, a 36 par 9 holes perfect for casual golfers who don’t have time for lengthier 18 holes. Then there is the Golf Club Perugia Sodi di Santa Sabina at Santa Sabina which is an 18 hole challenge, 72 par for advanced players wanting to have the regular golf game. There are others too, the 18 hole Golf Resorts Conero Sirolo and Antognolla Golf.

For lodgings, you can stay at Villa Costanza in Narni, Tenzi. Villa Costanza is a traditional Italian grey stone manor that sits majestically on a top of a hill. Here you can see glimpses and experiences of the Old Italian lifestyle, much of the manor house is preserved, not to mention Umbria seems to relapse into the past –a very dreamy place indeed.

Rome Italy Golf Vacations

Rome is the center of the largest faith on earth. And here you will see some of the world’s finest art pieces: the ceilings of Sistine Chapel, the frescoes of Raphael and several other art masterpieces.

The treat for vacationing golfers here are the golf courses Le Querce Golf Club and the Marco Simone Golf Club. Both are currently in the topmost ranks of golf courses in Italy and both have played pivotal parts in the Italian golf culture.

Le Querce Golf Club is the home of the National PGA Tour. Its challenge to players is difficult and its treat to sightseers is its unique topology. Lush rolling landscape typical to northern climate is its main feature, but deep hues of arboreal plants dotting the landscape give it a look of misplaced time, more especially if you’re playing on early mornings of late afternoons.

Essentially in a magnificent Baroque architecture, the Marco Simone Golf Club offers a short 36 holes. This short sprint makes it suitable for relaxed golfing, but its intermediate difficulty and trickiness earn the golf course the #1 spot in the Italian golf course ranking. Golfing in the Marco Simone Golf Club is a treat to the senses, every direction offers something majestic to see: a looming manor in the backdrop, thick foliage here and there.

For lodgings in Rome, Country Rome Bed & Breakfast at Via Castelbarco 31 makes a pretty choice. It’s a beautiful villa so quiet and peaceful you’ll forget you’re in the Eternal City. Its gardens create an interesting fragrance that would welcome you to early walks in the mornings before breakfast is served.

So what would you do in Italy? Do you play golf?
