Nike Golf
Whenever you think about Nike Golf, you think about Tiger Woods. And when you think about Tiger Woods, then you’re back thinking about Nike. That’s the power of advertisement, because whenever you think about golf, you also think about Tiger Woods, more so than John Daly or Greg Norman.
But the question is, does Nike Golf give us equipments that live up to the expectations, to the hype? Let’s have an in-depth look on what Nike Golf did offer us.
Nike Golf Clubs: Nike Ignite T60 Fairway Wood
When news and rumors circulated several months before the Nike Golf Ignite T60 Fairway Wood came out in 2003. While 2003 saw a disheartening slump on Tiger Wood’s tour record, the Ignite Nike golf club was nevertheless eagerly anticipated by many enthusiasts. And many speculated ahead of time that the Nike Golf Ignite T60 Fairway Wood will be a key item in Tiger Woods’ bag. When it did come out on 2003, it didn’t disappoint the majority.
It was an overachiever in several aspects. The massive 60 gram Tungsten Plug made a pretty factor in redirecting the center of gravity into a position that’s both low and deep. Not only it made the swings fuller, it also picks the balls of the grass in one easy stroke. It adds several yards to your game while allowing enough feel.
Nike Golf Clubs: Nike SasQuatch 460
When it comes to drivers, everyone loves it BIG. Nike Golf was more than kind to provide the yard loving crowd with the biggest face possible, the Nike SasQuatch at 460cc. At 460cc, mind you, this is really big, that for some it was already visually distracting. Surely there are other 460cc big face drivers out there that don’t pose such intimidating bulk to golfers? But the Nike SasQuatch 460cc is different, the club head gets elongated further back and away from the actual club face. The result was one massive and long head that sometimes gets on your nerves (yes, it do gets distracting sometimes). And it really does get balls easier into the air. Though it may sound scripted, but even Tiger Woods (known to use inferior clubs but still retains the leagues most respectable drive power) when asked by Kelly Tilghman on the Golf Channel, was surprised by Nike SasQuatch’s face power:
I think the SasQuatch is going to help me get the ball in the air. The testing I have done so far has shown that. I just need to get one that I can shape the way I want to.
Nike Golf balls: Nike One Platinum Golf Balls
Though there are already some few interesting Nike golf balls in the market, particularly the Nike One Black, the Nike One Gold (on the One Series), the Nike Ignite, the Nike Juice, the Nike Mojo, and the Nike Power Distance, when the One Platinum came out, requests filled the inbox of golf ball dealers hungry for the new stuff.
One Platinum was a winner, as the majority would see it. They even say its better than the Titleist Pro V1 who ever since earned the top rank as the best pro golf ball, produced a number of Pro V1 follow-ups that got worse ever release. One Platinum was able to compete on the old Pro V1; some would even say its way better than the overhyped Titleist ball. When Tiger Woods was asked again by Kelly Tilghman on the Golf Channel if he had a hand in the development of the Nike One Platinum, he was quick to confirm that he did have some influence, especially when the Nike golf ball developers were quick to corroborate with him in the ball’s development.
